[Mondo-devel] Wrong device exclusion list matching in mindi when partitioned root device name matches name of other SAN device

Ladislav Furman
Hello Bruno,

looks like Mindi wrongly excludes devices in following situation I encountered:
  • root device under multipath management, whole disk mapped to /dev/mapper/mpatha - parttitions /dev/mapper/mpathap1 (boot), /dev/mapper/mpathap2 (LVM fir root VG),
  • Not related SAN device holding application VG named /dev/mapper/mpathap is being listed in mondo's exclusion list

In that scenario, Mindi shows in mindi.log following:

INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lv_root from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/mapper/mpathap1 from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lvol1 from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lvol2 from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lvol3 from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lvol4 from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lvol5 from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)
INFO: Excluding /dev/vg00/lv_swap from mountlist (due to excluded device /dev/mapper/mpathap)

which of course is not correct - /dev/mapper/mpathap and /dev/mapper/mpathap2 are 2 different devices. Tested on latest stable release on RHEL6.

Kind regards,

Ladislav Furman
