[Mondo-devel] Fwd: Mondo - Rescue backup failed

Saravanan S
Hi

Server mlmapp3 and mlmapp4 are having same hardware and OS
The backup was performed on both server and restore tested only in mlmapp4
After restoring the backup was not properly in mlmapp4

Solution found was to increase the extra_space to 240000 the backup works in mlmappp4.

Please suggest whether to define value in mlmapp3 so that after restore the issue will not be faced in mlmapp3

EXTRA_SPACE=240000              # increase if you run out of ramdisk space

Environment
HP G9 blade
Red hat 6 OS

mindi-busybox-1.21.1-1.rhel6.x86_64

mindi-3.0.220151007022847-0.rhel6.x86_64

perl-MondoRescue-3.2.220151007022847-0.rhel6.noarch

Attached is the mindi.log

Hi,

I guess that your version of mondo is:

mondo-3.2.2-1.rhel6.x86_64.rpm

I see in your e13mlmapp4-bad-mindi.log:

  EXTRA_SPACE = 120000

  ...

cp: writing `/home/backup/tmp/mondo.tmp.uYZMZd/mountpoint.3683/tmp/mountlist.txt': No space left on device

FATAL ERROR. Cannot copy mountlist to ramdisk

So, increasing EXTRA_SPACE was a good solution.

If I understand well, your backup and restore through Mondorescue were successful on mlmapp4 with  EXTRA_SPACE=240000

So I would recommend you to set it too on mlmapp3 before to run mondoarchive.

You can set it in /etc/mindi/mindi.conf file (or in /usr/sbin/mindi shell-script).

Rgds, Victor

Hi Victor

Yes after changing the extra space to 24000 the backup is working fine. But the issue started only after performing restore, before restoration the backup was working fine with old default value.

So what would have kicked this issue.

Hi,

The mondorestore.log (on the machine restored) is useful to check the restore. You can check that file by opening a new shell during mondorestore, through Alt-F2 for example.

During mondorestore, if a problem occurs in mondorestore interactive or expert mode

  • Alt-F8 allows to switch to a "tail -f /var/log/mondorestore.log",
  • Alt-F2 (Alt-F3... Alt-F6) allow to switch to busybox shells,
  • Alt-F1 allows to return to mondorestore GUI screen.

To get some help from this mailing-list, you should post the /var/log/mondoarchive.log (from the machine backuped) and the associated /var/log/mondorestore.log (from the machine restored).

Rgds.
